Eating Less May Not Help You Lose Weight

You have probably heard that in order to lose weight, you have to eat less. However, a new study that was done by Penn State has shown that there is a better approach to weight loss. They found that eating more healthy foods is better for losing weight than restricting your calorie intake.

The study involved 100 people who were placed into two groups. One of the groups had used prior weight loss techniques. They came to the lab once a week to eat lunch. They did this for four weeks. People ate seven different foods. Every food had a different number of calories. They ate different portion sizes every week.

The researchers found that both groups ate more when they had more food on their plates. This finding was interesting. One of the groups had been trained to eat less food. However, they could not say no to the food when it was on their plates. The people who were trained to eat less also consumed fewer calories.

The study did not find out whether the subjects lost any weight. Barbara Rolls is the author of a book called “The Ultimate Volumerics Diet”. She stated that eating more is a better approach to weight loss. She also stated that your fullness is not measured by the calories you eat. It is measured by the weight of the food that you eat.

Men like this approach to weight loss. They would prefer to have an entire plate of food. There are small adjustments that you can make that will help you notice a difference in your calorie intake. For example, you can use lean meat and whole grain bread, then you can reduce the number of calories that your sandwich has. You can eat the same amount of food and consume fewer calories.
