Gear VR Revealed
Last week Samsung revealed a new Gear VR following the Galaxy Note 7. The new model is clearly an upgrade from the previous one. Thankfully Samsung has decided not to make it specific to the Galaxy Note 7. Instead, it can be used on a wide range of Galaxy S and Note models released from 2015 until today. The new model is to be released on August 19th but you can already pre-order on Amazon.
Improvements
The first improvement is the connectivity type. It now uses a data port that can switch between USB Type-C and microUSB. This gives everyone using an older phone the opportunity to just upgrade to the new Gear VR. The design itself was revamped to be more comfortable for the user making the overall experience better. It brings a new softer foam around the Gear VR. The head strap has also beenĀ improved to make it more comfortable. It is also lighter than the previous model. The color has now changed to an all dark from the previous white. It now looks more stealthy and provides better immersion. The field of view has been increased to 101 degrees from 96.
Ruling
All the minor improvements of the new Gear VR nicely come together. This provides an overall better experience and takes the Oculus software to new heights. The data port provides a simple upgrade for the same price you paid for the previous model of $99.99. Some manufacturers are even offering a free Gear VR with the purchase of a new Note 7 if you are looking to upgrade both. If you are VR fan like myself the price tag justifies the upgrade for a better overall experience.

You are still viewing things through an Android….I’ll wait for Apple VR which would be much better. Steve Jobz 4 Lyfe.
Not to be a perv or anything…but I bet seeing boobs online would be very immersive with this thing!
I would have to test it out and see
I am a big fan of the Samsung Gear VR. Will probably upgrade.
This is pretty amazing and super affordable. It just needs more content.
VR is definitely the future. Played several PC games in VR , was blown away and we are still in the infancy of consumer based VR
