Conor McGregor Knocks Out Donald Cerrone

The return of the biggest star in mixed martial arts was a success. Conor McGregor came back to the UFC after a 15 month absence. He made quick work of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in a fight that was held at welterweight. It would be an understatement to say that the fight was a disappointment to the people who paid to watch it. This is because McGregor was able to get the stoppage victory in far less than one minute. The fact that Conor won was not a surprise to anybody. However, there were very few people who thought a guy like Cerrone would be disposed of in less than one minute. However, that is exactly what happened.

There is no question that Conor McGregor is the most bankable star that the UFC has ever seen, says Business Insider. However, he had not had a single fight since the second half of 2018 when he was dominated by Khabib Nurmagomedov. There are many people who are calling the victory by Conor a return to form. However, it must be pointed out that Cerrone had lost six of his last 10 fights prior to the loss to Conor. Cerrone is clearly at the end of his career at this point. There are even experts who feel that he is washed up.

There is no word on who Conor will fight next. He has said many times that he would like a second shot at Khabib. However, there are other options out there. It is still very possible that Conor has a rematch against Floyd Mayweather. The Irishman was defeated by the boxing legend by TKO in their first encounter. The amount of money that Conor could make against Floyd is a far greater payday than anything he would make against Khabib. It remains to be seen what Conor and the UFC decide to do.

Conor has said that he plans to stay in shape just in case Khabib or Tony Ferguson has to pull out of their fight for some reason. Conor wants to be able to step in. The fight between Khabib and Ferguson will take place in April in Brooklyn, New York. The UFC had a huge night at UFC 246. There were many big celebrities who attended the fight. The event sold out in just a few minutes. This is a testament to the star power of Conor McGregor. It will be interesting to see who he fights next.
