Tom McClintock who is a Republican noted that California has enough water to battle the raging wildfires that are being witnessed in the various parts of the state. The overgrown forests have posed to be a significant challenge. Tom’s District extends right from Lake Tahoe all the way to the Kings Canyon National Park. Tom had attended a meeting where they discussed with other officials on the various means of battling the fires that have proven to be a headache. The officials primarily sat to discuss on how they were going to contain the Donnell Fire based in Stanislaus National Park Forest. Tom openly asked the officials about the density of trees in the areas that they were trying to contain the Donnell fire.

The officials sat staring at Tom as they never had the answer to his question. Tom immediately took the opportunity to notify them that the National park had a forest density of 300 trees per acre. He went on to say that a healthy forest should be having at least 80 to 100 trees per acre. Tom continued to address the matter and even mentioned Trump’s Tweet that was posted at the beginning of the week. The tweet read that the California water guidelines were making the efforts to fight the fires in the state difficult. The amount of water that is in California is enough to fight all the blazing fires in the State. In fact, it can fight dozens of fires that may erupt in the state. However, Tom went on to say that the President had confused two points, which is the Forest policy and the water policy. He noted that if the president separated the two points, he would be right on both points.

Tom has long been vital to California’s water guidelines and in forest management activities. All California leaders are now joining efforts to do something about the forest management. This is the same issue that the Republican congressman, together with others that were concerned attempted to advocate for. They were proposing a clearing of all dead bushes and trees. This way, they will be thinning the number of trees in the forest. Now, since most of California’s forest settles on a national forest, a federal land action is required. The United States Forest Service is now reported to be preparing a response on the same, especially about the Donnell Fire.
