Most people are well aware of the fact that their mental health is just as important as their physical health. However, mental illness in men is still something that is ignored by society. It is estimated that 9 percent of men suffer from severe depression. This is over six million men.

More men are committing suicide today. It is the second-leading cause of death in men who are between the ages of 10 and 39. One of the reasons that men do not seek help for mental problems is because there is a stigma surrounding it. Men are told that they are weak if they get help for their mental problems.

Fortunately, there are a few men who have decided to speak up about the mental health crisis. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has recently opened up about his battle with depression. He started that he has battled depression since his teenage years. His problems started when his mother committed suicide.

Kevin Love, who is a player for the Cleveland Cavaliers, recently opened up about his chronic panic attacks. Zayn Malik recently opened up about his battle with eating disorders and anxiety. It is important for men to speak up about these issues so that other people can realize that they are not alone.
