Donald Glover, who co-stars as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming SolO: A Star Wars Story, says that he would be interested in playing the character in a hypothetical spin-off movie.

He made these comments in an interview with Entertainment Weekly promoting the movie, which comes out on Friday, May 25.

“It would always be fun to be Lando again. I would love to do it again. It’s really fun,” he said.

Solo is the second Star Wars Anthology movie (after 2016’s Rogue One), part of a series that is set outside of the main “Trilogies” of “Episodes” in the franchise.

Glover noted that while those movies tend to focus on the Skywalker family and their legacy―something so epic that he describes it as “almost like the Bible”―Solo, being a smaller story, can have a lot more creative freedom.

“I feel like out here its like, yeah, we’re just like hustlers and gamblers and space pirates, essentially, so you can do a lot more and have a lot more fun. And I like those movies a lot. I like the comedy of them, the silliness and also the adventure. I think it would just be fun to do,” he said.

He added that he has actually pitched his own idea for a Lando spin-off, describing it as similar to Catch Me If You Can.

As fans of the franchise know, Solo is set between Episodes 3 and 4, and provides backstory for Han Solo, the sarcastic smuggler who will eventually get caught up in the Rebel Alliance. Alden Ehrenreich plays this younger version of the character, taking over from Harrison Ford.

Lando (originally played by Billy Dee Williams) is an associate of Han’s, and Solo will depict their early interactions. While Han is a pilot and has a rough personality, Lando is more of a charismatic con man.

Those who have already seen the film describe Glover’s Lando as one of its best parts, so fans are already interested in him getting his own Anthology film. At one point is seemed as if Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy had confirmed that one would be made, though she later clarified that it was an idea that they were interested, while implying that there may be more Han-centric films first.
