There is a movie coming out next year that millions of people around the world are looking forward to. “The Batman” will feature the return of the Caped Crusader to the big screen. It will be the first Batman theatrical release since 2012. Robert Pattinson will be taking over the lead role from Christian Bale. Colin Farrell will be playing the Penguin. The film is set to be released in the summer of 2021. However, that release date might have to be pushed back due to the recent outbreak of the coronavirus. Many major film and TV productions around the world have been shut down. Warner Bros. announced that “The Batman” will stop filming for two weeks.

Following the two week hiatus, Warner Bros. plans to take a look at what is going on in the world at that time to determine if it is safe to start filming again. According to Variety.com, the studio issued a statement saying that the health and safety of the cast and crew are the most important things. “The Batman” is being filmed in England. The decision to shut down the movie was made by Warner Bros. The British government has not banned gatherings of large people as of yet.

There are many movie and TV production companies that are playing it on the safe side. They are shutting down production because having many people in the same confined space would make it very easy to spread the virus if someone is infected. Many of the movies that are shut down are only taking this measure for two weeks initially. Then they will decide whether to continue keeping the production closed or to start up production again. This is a situation that no studios have been in before. Therefore, nobody really knows how long it will take for the virus to be contained.

Warner Bros. is depending on “The Batman” to be a box office smash. This goes without saying. The three Batman films that were all written and directed by Christopher Nolan were very well received by fans and critics. Therefore, the expectations are very high for this film. The studio said that the film will only start production again when they are certain there will be no threat to the health and safety of the cast and crew. The exact details of the film’s story have not been revealed as of yet. They are keeping a tight lid on it.
