An official trailer has been released for DC Universe, the upcoming streaming service that will allow fan to access a variety of media from DC Comics.

The video is only thirty seconds long, but quickly bombards viewers with a variety of TV shows and movies, from 1942’s Superman: Terror on the Midway to the upcoming Titans. “Keep in mind this is just a glimpse of what will be coming this fall,” a note says at the end.

Titans, a live-action series about the titular team of young heroes, will be the first project that fans can see exclusively on the platform; Young Justice: Outsiders, which was expected to premiere at the same time, has been pushed back to 2019; the other new series, Doom Patrol, Swamp Thing and Harley Quinn, will also premiere around the same time.

One factor, previously hinted but now confirmed, is that the platform will not only feature movies and TV shows based on DC Comics, but the comics themselves. Hoping to “elevate the comic reading experience,” subscribers will be able to pick from a library that includes several of the most notable DC Comics titles and see them on everything from a smartphone to a television screen. This will provide an analogue to Marvel Unlimited, which provides a similar service for the company’s main competitor.

It seems that DC Universe will also be something of a social media platform, with fans able to pick avatars for their accounts and interact in forums and such. There will also be new videos and announcements daily, as well as the chance to get exclusive merchandise.

“We wanted the DC Universe comic reader to be a blend of art and technology that would further enhance fan’s experiences of the live-action and animated programming on DC Universe,” said DC Comics co-publisher Dan Dio. “This hand-curated selection from our decades of comic creations gives fans a thematic digital longbox to carry with them on the device of their choosing or lets them watch exclusive video content on a big screen followed by the comic that inspired it.”

In short, the company clearly wants this to be THE site for fans of its properties. It remains to be seen when it will come out (possibly late August), and we may learn more coming up at San Diego Comic Con.
