The Toronto Raptors are on the verge of capturing their first championship in franchise history. Front and center throughout the NBA Finals games in Toronto has been hip-hop star Drake, the team’s super fan and ambassador. He’s been in the headlines for several trolling shirts or talking trash with the Warriors players. Now after his team’s taken a 3-1 lead he’s back again.
On Friday night, the Raptors claimed a 105-92 victory on the Golden State Warriors’ home court. That sent the fans home unhappy, as it could be the last time they see their team play in that building. The Warriors will move from Oakland to San Francisco next season. While that didn’t sit well with the Warriors or their fans, it certainly made one Toronto rapper quite happy. Per HotNewHipHop, Drake posted a taunt towards the Warriors after the win.
In the video posted online to Complex Twitter, “Play that sh*t from the Yay Areeaaaaa,” Drake yelled as someone there put on the E-40 song “Choices (Yup).” The taunt was directed towards hip-hop star E-40 who is considered one of the Golden State Warriors’ super fans.
Drake also posted a clip on his Instagram of Warriors’ player Draymond Green wearing a pink blazer with jean shorts. He captioned it, “BALL GAME!!!!!!! YOUUUUUU REEEEEAAAAAADDDDYYYYYY???? ONE MORE WIN!!!!!! THE REAL WARRIORS ARE IN THE 6.”
The rapper and Warriors star engaged in a bit of trash talk after one of the first games in the series. That occurred after a Raptors’ win as the Warriors were walking off the court past Drake. A game or so later, it was the Warriors talking trash to Drake. Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant jawed at him from the tunnel to the locker room following a Warriors’ win.
The two teams will play Game 5 on Monday night in Toronto with Drake most likely in the spotlight again. Game time is set for 9 p.m. Eastern Time with ABC providing the telecast. With the Raptors ahead 3-1, a victory could launch an epic celebration for the fans in the city, with Drake leading the parade.
