Last year when the Major League Baseball season began, nobody was looking at the New York Yankee roster as a potential World Serious contender. Then Aaron Judge happened. Judge went on to become the face of the MLB, electrifying crowds around the country as the Yankees became one of the most surprisingly stout teams in all of baseball. New York would ultimately fall a game short of a World Series berth but fans weren’t too upset, the groundwork was there for what looked like the beginning of a new dynasty. This offseason New York completed one of the biggest MLB trades in recent memory by adding Giancarlo Stanton, the National League MVP, to their roster. Now a World Series run isn’t just expected, it’s demanded. If Aaron Judge has anything to say about those demands, we could be in for a good year in New York.

Aaron Judge landed the AL Rookie of the Year award while making a strong case for the AL MVP Award. He’ll be joined by Giancarlo Stanton, the reigning NL MVP, to create one of the most powerful power-hitting combos in the history of baseball. In fact, the duo could easily mash over 100 home runs combined next season and nobody would be surprised. Judge spoke at a press conference on next year’s expectations, saying, “We’re just adding not only great players but quality guys as well.” Judge wasn’t just speaking of Giancarlo Stanton, though that was hard to avoid, but also the recent re-signing of CC Sabathia to a 1 year/$10 million contract.

When pressed on the role that Giancarlo Stanton will play on the Yankees roster and playoff aspirations, Judge was practically glowing. Judge said, “He’ll blend right into this team. We’ve got a good chemistry in the clubhouse. He’s going to be a great fit for New York.” Judge’s high praise should come as no surprise as he and Stanton went toe-to-toe throughout the entire 2016 season for the role of the biggest slugger in all of baseball. Add on to their friendly rivalry, Stanton and Judge both share the knowledge that they’ll be the cornerstones of what could be a Yankee dynasty for the next five to ten years.

Ultimately, the addition of Giancarlo Stanton to the New York roster should put the rest of the baseball world on notice. New York is here to make a difference and their eyes are firmly set on the World Series. They’re coming for Houston.
