Headphone Jack Eliminated

Apple has made a courageous and controversial move to eliminate the headphone jack on the iPhone 7. The decision was made in order to gain more space for powerful hardware and better waterproofing. The company did provide an alternative by being able to plug in your headphones using an adapter on the lightning port. Apple is also releasing Airpods which are wireless Bluetooth headphones. Despite the solutions provided by Apple many users still want the headphone jack back. These are the same users who have been expressing their frustrations and researching for another alternative online. This created the perfect opportunity to post a fake tutorial as a joke.

Fake Tutorial Released

The original fake tutorial was released by a YouTuber TechRax with the title “Secret Hack To Get Headphone Jack on the iPhone 7”. The video starts by addressing users who are complaining about Apple’s controversial decision. He then proceeds to say how expensive the Airpods will be and how he has found a simple solution. The video was done with a serious tone explaining every step along the way. Ultimately he drills a hole where the headphone jack was previously located and connects the headphones. He even shows how it works by playing YouTube music and you can magically hear it too. Take a look at the video.

A Joke Gone Wrong

It was later stated that this was obviously a fake tutorial and a joke. But it was too late, many users had already drilled their iPhones causing them to break. You can read the early comments below the video and feel the agony of those who took this tutorial serious. Since then reports and warnings have been coming up all over the place informing users not to try it. This is another example of how gullible people are out there. Just because it’s on the internet and it looks “official” doesn’t mean it is. My prayers go out to all of those users out there who tried this tutorial. I cannot imagine what else they will be trying in the future.
