Scandal in Rio De Janiero
Four members of Team USA’s men’s swimming team have gotten themselves implicated into a bit of mess over the weekend. The man who has lived in the shadow of Michael Phelps for the past decade, Ryan Lochte, is part of the troublesome crew. They claimed that their taxi cab was pulled over by Rio Police Officers. However things took a turn for the worst when they drew guns and robbed them at gunpoint. This prompted the officers of Rio to launch an investigation and what they have found thus far is alarming. It would appear there is a few holes in the different stories that have been recapped.
Liar, Liar, Speedo on Fire
It appears the four swimmers came back to the Olympic Village at 6:56 AM after partying the night at Club France in Rio. A few hours later, Fox News broke the story with a tweet provided directly by Ryan Lochte. Eventually Ryan gave his version of the story in the following recap.
“We got pulled over in our taxi and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge. No lights, no nothing, just a police badge. They pulled us over, they pulled out their guns. They told the other swimmers to get down on the ground, they got down on the ground. I refused. I was like, “We didn’t do anything wrong so I’m not getting down on the ground.” And then the guy pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead and said “get down.” I was like, I put my hands up. I was like “whatever.” He took our money, he took my wallet.”
Either Ryan Lochte is a really tough guy with balls of steel, or this isn’t his first rodeo being held up at gunpoint by thugs. However this story prompted the actual police in Rio to do some further digging. After investigating one of the swimmers, they discovered he could not provide where the robbery took place. Things were seeming fishy as police further investigate more witnesses.
So What Happened?
Turns out the story gets a bit more complicated. The crew of swimmers stopped at a gas station while drunk. It appears they vandalized the bathroom and broke the door right off. A security guard at the establishment appears to have gotten into an altercation with them. This might of been where the guard drew the gun on them, although at this point we are not sure. There is speculation and rumors that maybe they were robbed during a drug or prostitution deal gone wrong. It is no surprise that Ryan Lochte made a run for it and made it to the States two days later. He left behind his teammates, who were pulled off the plane at the airport. Upon investigation the truth hasn’t come out yet, but the story kept changing with time. Eventually it become confirmed that the story didn’t exactly go down as planned. The USA olympic committee has apologized for the behavior and lies of the swimming team. Stay tuned to see if the truth ever comes out.

Wow this is sad. These guys are dumb. They don’t gain anything from lying! … I tell you people who are well known tend to go a little to far thinking they can get away with anything just because they are somewhat famous.
This is a little shameful for the USA….and we still don’t know what really happened….the story keeps changing everyday.
