UFC Postpones Next Three Events Due to Coronavirus

There are no team sports being played anywhere around the world because of the danger presented by the outbreak of the coronavirus. However, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) decided that they wanted to still put on shows after all of the other professional sports leagues had ceased operating. UFC president Dana White believed that it was fine for the shows to go on as long as the UFC abided by all of the regulations given to them by the government. The UFC put on a show in Brazil that no fans were allowed to attend.

Dana White also announced that he would keep putting on fights at the UFC headquarters in Las Vegas. However, that came to an end when the state of Nevada banned combat sports for the next couple of weeks. Dana looked for a new venue to hold the next event. He had come to an agreement with an Indian casino in Oklahoma City that had an arena. The bad news is that the government changed the rules to allow only 10 people or less to be at a UFC event at the same time. This number was decreased from 50. At that point, Dana had no choice but to postpone the next three UFC events. He said there is no way that the company could put on a fight with only 10 people there.

Dana White still insisted that UFC 249 that features the fight between Khabib and Tony Ferguson will still go on as planned on April 18th. He originally said that it probably will not take place in the United States. However, Dana has once again changed his tune about this fight. He is now saying that he is not sure if the fight will take place on its original date. However, he is still working very hard to find any venues where the fight will be allowed to be held. However, it looks like that will be an uphill battle at the moment.

Dana White said that all of the postponed fights will definitely be made up at some point in the future. However, he is not sure when that will be. He is still trying to find a viable venue for UFC 249. He is not giving up because he really wants that fight to take place. It has been scheduled on four previous occasions and still has not happened. Some people thing the fight is cursed.
