It has not taken long for Chelsea’s manager to crack the whip. Maurizio Sarri is recognized as a hard-nosed manager. He openly asked the Chelsea players to pull their socks and match to the expectations that the club requires. He issued a very stern warning to all the players that were showing very minimal improvement and performance. He asked them to improve quickly or else face dire consequences. The manager was all in a fury after the game that they played against Perth Glory in Australia. After the manager saw his first win with the team, he still urged the players to improve. Chelsea managed to beat the Australian side 1-0 in a match that the blues underperformed. He noted that some players like Alvaro Morata needed to improve as the club expected him to score goals for the team. They had to better their skills and possess a winning will as quickly as possible.
According to The Telegraph, Pedro managed to score the only goal in the match that secured a win for the Blues. However, it was a goal that came in the last moments of the second half. The team was not able to knock at the opponent’s goal post until in the dying minutes. Maurizio noted that the pre-season friendly match on Monday saw his team waste a lot of opportunities that could have increased their winning margin. He went on to say that he was contented about the performance during the first 15 minutes of the first half and the first quarter of the second half. However, the last 30 minutes of the game was filled with very embarrassing play as the striker’s kept on misfiring. Sarri noted that the team lost the distance between the midfielders and the defenders. He insisted that the players needed to work on that. The manager confirmed that plenty of hard work would be going on at Cobham training grounds in the next coming weeks.
Maurizio Sarri challenged his players to improve very quickly as they had a match coming soon. They are set to play Inter Milan this coming Saturday. The match will be played in Nice, France. Maurizio said that with a good number of players recovering at home, it would be challenging for Chelsea to hit the highest points that he anticipates. He urged the players that were already in the camp to improve day by day as they waited for the 12 players that were still resting after the World Cup tournament.
