Hip-hop star Drake is fresh off a huge win for his Toronto Raptors team in the NBA Finals. As a celebration of the first-ever championship, it appears that Drake decided to release new music for the fans to enjoy.
A report via HotNewHipHop indicates that Drake announced he would release some new tracks after his team won the NBA Championship. He did just that with two new songs called “Omertà” and “Money in the Grave” featuring rapper Rick Ross. HNHH mentions that Drake and Ross previously teamed up on “Aston Martin Music” a decade ago.
Drake revealed the new songs via an Instagram post. So far, the HNHH site reports that the reaction to the new songs has been positive. They mention a number of social media reactions or memes which give praise or credit for how good the new songs are. Among Drake’s Instagram post comments are everything from fire emojis to “YOU CAME THROUGH” to “Championship muzik.”
A report via NPR suggests that of the two new songs, “Money in the Grave” seems like a “leftover” from the 2018 album “Scorpion.” They also say it brings an end to a beef between Drake and Rick Ross which they squashed just last year.
As far as a new album from Drake, that is still anyone’s guess. Drake’s previous release was the album “Scorpion” last year. That album spawned a number of hits including “In My Feelings,” “God’s Plan,” and “Nice For what,” each of which reached the No. 1 spot on the US charts. The album itself is certified platinum by the RIAA.
The rapper has enjoyed plenty of publicity thanks to the NBA Finals. It included him getting into trash talking with Golden State Warriors players and even taunting them by wearing specific shirts or with online posts and videos. Ultimately, his team picked up a 4-2 victory in the NBA Finals, leading to a major party in the city of Toronto.
Drake’s two new tracks are currently online via the Spotify music streaming platform.
