The Fox series “The Simpsons” is the longest running show in TV history. It is now currently in season 31. There was also a very successful movie based on the series that came out a few years ago. It was announced recently that a second film is currently in development. It was just revealed by one of the people involved in the project that the new movie will not be a sequel to the first one. It will tell a different story that will not be related to the first film in any way.

It is not very surprising that there would be talk of a second “Simpsons” movie. After all, Disney acquired the rights to all of the characters from the series last year when they bought all of the shows and movies that were previously owned by 20th Century Fox in a deal that cost more than $65 billion. All of the “Simpsons” episodes are now available to watch on the new Disney+ streaming platform. The new film is still a long way away. The script has not been written yet. The project is still in a stage of development where story ideas are being kicked around. However, the project has not been officially green lit by Disney as of yet.

“The Simpsons” has become an iconic classic that is beloved by millions of people around the world. That is one of the main reasons why the series is still on the air after more than three decades. The massive list of supporting characters allows the writers to have the ability of coming up with new ideas for episodes without rehashing the same things over and over again. The show will be on the air for a season 32 because it has already been renewed.

There are many people who felt a few years ago that a new “Simpsons” movie was never going to happen. However, people involved with the series have said that Disney executives have been more receptive to the idea. Basically, Disney is looking for ways to maximize the return on the huge investment they made when they bought the Fox archives. The execs who work for the entertainment giant feel that a new movie would be a huge hit and make a lot of money. Now it is just a matter of coming up with a funny story idea that makes sense for a feature film.
