With plenty of moviegoers anticipating the sequel to Marvel’s blockbuster “Avengers: Infinity War,” rumors are surfacing here and there about the film. The latest indicates that this 2019 entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to outdo all previous Marvel films in terms of running time.

A report on Saturday (Nov. 10) via Hot New Hip Hop suggests that “Avengers” director Joe Russo told Hollywood Reporter the fourth movie in the series currently has a runtime of over three hours. Russo mentioned during his live-stream conversation with THR, “We’ll see if that holds.” Russo also said they’re “halfway through the editing process,” and they have “more than 3,000 VFX shots” currently. VFX refers to a movie’s visual effects, so a lot may be edited between now and the movie’s release in May 2019.

In comparison, “Infinity War” was 20 minutes shorter at two hours and 40 minutes. However, the pace of the film generally kept audiences interested and entertained to the point it didn’t feel nearly that long. The first “Avengers” film clocked in at two hours and 23 minutes, while 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” was two hours and 21 minutes long.

Avengers 4” still doesn’t have an official title or at least one that has been revealed for audiences yet. It’s believed the movie’s title could be a bit of a spoiler towards what will happen in the film. Some fans are already speculating on which cast members and their associated characters might be officially done in the MCU with this film too. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain American (Chris Evans), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) are all believed to be finished appearing in Marvel films after this movie, but time will tell.

After the edits are completed and a title/trailer are revealed, the “Avengers 4” movie officially hits theaters on May 9, 2019.
