More people are opting to use sleep trackers. There are also some fitness trackers that measure sleep. It is a well-known fact that sleep is important for one’s health. Sleep can lower the risk of heart disease, boost libido and athletic performance.

Many people wonder whether the sleep trackers are really worth it. Sleep trackers do not measure sleep quality. However, they do keep track of your movement. Most people stay still while they are sleeing. When you are dreaming, your body temporarily paralyzes you in order to keep you from acting out your dreams.

Sleep trackers have been around for several decades. They can provide you with an insight on how well you have been sleeping. If you want to know well you have slept last night, then a sleep tracker will not help you much. However, if you want to know how well you have been sleeping over a period of time, then a sleep tracker can help you.

Dr. Winter is a sleep adviser. He also the author of “The Sleep Solution: Why Sleep is Broken And How to Fix It.” He stated that sleep trackers have limitations. He stated that the sleep trackers cannot determine what stage you are in. It cannot distinguish between REM and non-REM sleep.

REM sleep is important because your body regenerates itself during this stage. However, every stage of sleep is needed for memory, coordination, muscle repair and the release of important hormones. Keep in mind that your sleep tracker may overestimate the amount of sleep that you get.

There are times when your heart rate may be low, and your body may be still. However, you may not actually be asleep. Isha Gupta is a medical doctor. He stated that even though sleep trackers are not perfect, they are beneficial.

Nancy Foldvary is a medical doctor who has warned people to not overthink sleep. She stated that if you are getting seven to nine hours of sleep every night and are waking up feeling refreshed, then you most likely are getting enough sleep.
