If you want to get motivated to exercise, you may need to take action. Besides this, probably the only way you’ll actually start is if you make it fun. These ideas might be just what you need to motivate yourself to exercise.

Get Inspired by Something

Since it can be almost impossible to begin exercising, without motivation, try inspiring yourself. For example, you can turn on your favorite music while you jump rope or read a motivational book before you do your routine. Reading a true story about someone who overcame their struggles can make you feel as though you’re capable of doing the same thing. In addition, you can watch a movie about superheroes or whatever else might make you want to move around.

Vary Your Routine

Rather than torture yourself with the same boring old workouts, try changing things up. For one thing, instead of going for a jog, try jumping jacks. After all, new experiences can make your time more exciting. You can even ask a friend to join you to walk your dogs together, go hiking or walk down a nature trail.

Put on Your Favorite Attire

One way to boost self-confidence and feel good about yourself is to wear an outfit that feels great on your body and enhances your appearance. It can be colorful and cute or strong and bold colored. You can find stylish, affordable outfits online or check the sales rack at a local store.

Reward Yourself Afterwards

Having a reward to look forward to after your workouts can give you a reason to get started and keep going. Your reward could be a piece of delicious pie, a pair of new sneakers, a CD you’ve been wanting or another item you’d like to have. Another idea is to give yourself an experience such as going out to dinner with a friend or seeing a movie you’ve been wanting to see. You can also make your reward meaningful such as taking a bubble bath or volunteering to help others.

Instead of spending all of your time on the couch dreaming of fit you could be, get up and do something about it. For instance, if you’re at home, you can go for a walk outdoors or even inside the house. And if you’re at work, you can use breaks to your advantage by doing yoga or walking up and down the stairs.
