Alex Pall, the bearded half of the EDM-meets-Pop-while-getting-introduced-to-Rock duo The Chainsmokers, has been everywhere the group has been from the very beginning and has seen it all, from studio to stage. With his partner, Drew Taggart, up front and center as the group’s vocalist, the intrigue of fans can easily keep them curiously wondering—what is Alex like, and what things does Alex like? Being able to learn a little bit more about the fun-loving, positivity-promoting, engaging charisma machine Alex Pall has just gotten that much simpler for you with this list of fun facts about the dynamic co-founder of The Chainsmokers.
Towards the very end of 2015, Vevo posted a brief interview in the form of a guessing game for Alex Pall and Drew Taggart entitled “Bandmates with The Chainsmokers.” Both members were given writing utensils and the exact same questions to ask each other, and the end result revealed just how well Alex and Drew knew each other. Within the start of this Q&A session, we learned about Alex Pall’s beverage choices. Whether you have an adult drink when you go out to socialize, or you need some caffeine to jumpstart your morning, take a look to see how your drink selections match up with Alex Pall.
Go-to Shots at the Bar
As late-night DJs and around-the-clock Pop Stars, The Chainsmokers find themselves in the vicinity of quite a few social settings with a fully-stocked bar throughout their busy weeks. Whether it’s time to party or time to kick back and relax, Alex Pall enjoys a shot or two of the mighty Fireball Cinnamon Whisky. This 66-proof sweet-and-spicy drink originated from Canada and has expanded internationally to give your nightclub or house party the flavor of a pack of Big Red gum to keep you enticed and in a happy place. It comes as no surprise that a charming performer like Alex Pall gives Fireball the thumbs-up response.
When it Comes to Coffee…
Thanks to the vast popularity of mainstream coffee shops such as Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Dunkin Donuts, and Second Cup throughout North American, it wouldn’t be a shocker to hear that Alex Pall is a coffee drinker at some point during his constant treks from city to city and country to country as a member of The Chainsmokers. With so many ways to manipulate the flavor of your coffee with milk, sugar, cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, and caramel, how exactly does Alex Pall prefer his cup of caffeine? Baristas holding down the fort in busy, understaffed cafes can remain relieved when Alex Pall pops in…because he enjoys his coffee black. No long list of added ingredients, just provide those brilliantly-brewed beans and Alex is satisfied.
During a November 2017 interview with the legendary television and radio host Larry King, Alex and Drew sat down to share some colorful memories from their personal and professional lives. This chat created some completely hilarious confessions and some additional fun facts about Alex Pall from The Chainsmokers.
Alex’s Best City for Performances
At any given time, The Chainsmokers could be performing at a prestigious casino club in Las Vegas, a packed stadium arena in Toronto, or a high-energy music festival in Miami. But when it is all said and done, Alex Pall’s favorite place to perform with The Chainsmokers is in the city that never sleeps, New York City. NYC feels like a home away from home for Alex, because it literally is where he called home before his superstardom. Alex was born and raised in Westchester, NY just outside of New York City, and attended New York University for art history and music business.
Favorite EDM Artist
In the EDM space, there are plenty of globally-known giants that have enviable followings such as Diplo, Calvin Harris, and the late great Avicii. On many occasions, Alex has sent out positive shout-outs to all of these epic music mavericks and has expressed the inspiration that they have added to his life. But when Larry King posed the question of which EDM artist was his favorite, Alex Pall responded with Skrillex. Resembling the actor Corey Feldman of 1980s movie classics like Gremlins, The Goonies, and The Lost Boys, Skrillex is a Californian fixture at music festivals, and a hitmaker in his own right with big bangers like “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites,” “Bangarang” (featuring Sirah), “Make it Bun Dem” (with Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley), and “Purple Lamborghini” (with Rick Ross).
Childhood Singer He Enjoyed Most
Being born in 1985, you might assume Alex’s favorite singer as a 1990s kid was someone from that era, like Mariah Carey or Kurt Cobain. But Alex Pall’s favorite singer as a kid was, surprisingly, Billy Joel. When you factor in Billy Joel also being a New Yorker and being able to blend Rock and Pop into huge hits such as “Uptown Girl” and “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” the connection becomes a little more obvious.
His First Kiss
Speaking of famous New Yorkers, one particular comedic actor from one of New York City’s longest-running and most renown television series’ Saturday Night Live, played a very indirect role in how Alex Pall experienced his first kiss as a teenager. The house of Chevy Chase, yes, Clark Griswold himself from the classic comedies National Lampoons Vacations and National Lampoons Christmas Vacations, is the location of where Alex first smooched. At the time, Alex was friends with Chevy Chases’ daughter and, during a game of spin the bottle, wound up kissing a girl named Rebecca, the friend of Chevy’s daughter. If there is one thing that all of these fun facts express about Alex Pall, it is that he was destined for fame, but still has highly relatable tastes in refreshments and music.
