So Who’s Idea Was It To Create Such A Bitter Ale

What is an IPA? Well, that’s an Indian Pale Ale, first created by England so they can serve beer to India. In the late 1700’s it was nearly impossible to beer to India. By the time East India Company sailed across the Cape of Good Hope in Africa, and made it to India, the beer had gone stale. That’s when the brewers of Burton-on-Trent had a brewmaster named Samuel Allsop that changed the game. He developed a much stronger, bitter tasting, hoppier beer, with a higher alcohol level. Due to the higher amount of hops and alcohol in this ale, it preserved the beer much longer than any other. It didn’t take long for this invention to become the primary alcoholic export to the colonies. The Indian Pale Ale became wildly popular in the 18th century. After the Prohibition of the 1920’s in the United States, the demand for IPA’s dwindled and never picked back up.

The Growing IPA Market Becomes Trendy Again

There seems to be a paradigm shift in the last year years across the nation. Many trendy people who found themselves drinking craft beers made a switch to another type of beverage. Go out to any World of Beer or local bar, there’s a good chance people are ordering IPA’s. We see these stages very often among the younger crowds. It’s gone from traditional Budweiser to the Light Beer rush of the early 2000’s, to Craft Beers, and then Trappist Ales made by monks. So it is surprising to see that the demand for IPA’s has stayed pretty solid for the last few years. The fad hasn’t died out for a product that has such an acquired taste. But as usual, when a product becomes popular, competition starts to ramp up. Go to any Total Wine, and you’ll notice a ton of different IPA’s to choose from. So what should you try first?

Guinness Nitro IPA Changes the Game

If you have never tried an IPA before, the bitterness of it may shock you at first. They may also taste very dry, which you’ll typically experience when consuming a Japanese Beer. It truly is an acquired taste, similar to whiskey. A lot of people do not like it at first, especially if they are used to drinking light beers. However, Guinness has developed a very interesting twist on IPA’s that veterans and noobs can enjoy alike. What makes their Nitro IPA so special is that it is incredibly smooth despite its 5.8% ABV. Guinness is already smooth to begin with, add the fact that this one is nitro brewed, and you got an IPA like no other. It also has a citrus flavor in it with a tangy aroma that makes it a remarkable journey from the first sip till the last. It’s honey colored appear is accompanied by a creamy and rich finish that everyone can appreciate. Do yourself a favor this upcoming weekend, go out and try some Nitro IPA and let us know in the comments below if you loved it.

I don’t like IPA because I can’t get wasted on it. It’s too filling and I cant consume that much bitterness in one night. However it is lovely to enjoy one here and there and follow it up with bud lights.

Seriously I think IPA’s taste like a donkey’s genitals. Super bitter after taste. I don’t think what nitro non sense you add to it. I’ll stick to my Stella & Amber Bocks.
