That’s when the brewers of Burton-on-Trent had a brewmaster named Samuel Allsop that changed the game. He developed a much stronger, bitter tasting, hoppier beer, with a higher alcohol level. Due to the higher amount of hops and alcohol in this ale, it preserved the beer much longer than any other. It didn’t take long for this invention to become the primary alcoholic export to the colonies. The Indian Pale Ale became wildly popular in the 18th century. After the Prohibition of the 1920’s in the United States, the demand for IPA’s dwindled and never picked back up.

There seems to be a paradigm shift in the last year years across the nation. Many trendy people who found themselves drinking craft beers made a switch to another type of beverage.
