A man recently discovered that he had high blood pressure when he visited the Men’s Health and Education Center. His blood pressure was so high that he needed immediate medical attention. However, he stated that he could not afford to go to the doctor. He recently had two teeth extracted and had to borrow the money that he needed to pay for his prescription.

The man eventually went to Badger Care, which is a program that helps people with a low-income, get the health insurance that they need. Aaron Perry, is the founder of the Men’s Health and Education Center, which is located inside of the JP Hair Design Barbershop. He founded the center because he wanted to address the health issues that affected African-American men.

Aaron stated that his center is welcoming, so it is a great place to discuss health issues. The center recently received a $300,000 grant, so Aaron plans on expanding it.

Aaron is also the founder of Rebalanced-Life Wellness Association. He stated that the purpose of this organization is to improve the lives of African-American men in the area. African-American men die an average of seven years sooner than white men. They also have higher rates of diabetes, cancer and obesity.

There were 84 blood pressure screenings done in April. Sixty-eight percent of the men had a high blood pressure reading. Many health issues can be resolved by exercising and eating right. However, men will not be able to address those issues if they do not know that they exist.

There are a lack of doctors in low-income communities, which makes it harder for a lot of men to get the health care that they need. Most of the men who come to the center are African-American. In addition to screenings, they also get pamphlets about different health conditions.
