We all want to live a long, healthy life. The question is: how do we get there? There are many ways to tackle this issue and probably plenty of “hacks,” some more valuable than others. This article features four easy hacks that you can put into practice today for a healthier lifestyle; some will take a little effort, but the results will be worth it in the end.
1 Stop Eating Junk Food
This does not mean forever (though if you do it right, one day might be all you need)! Simply by cutting out the junk food in your diet, your body will see an improvement in no time. Start with sugar-packed sodas and work your way down to French fries and chips. You will likely notice a significant improvement in your energy levels and skin tone, though one might take a few days or weeks to appreciate the drastic effects of such a diet change truly.
2 Go For The 10,000 Steps
This hack is more for those with an active lifestyle (or would like one). Before we had cars and trucks, people were forced to walk everywhere; now, we drive everywhere. While this is convenient, it has taken us farther away from one of our basic human needs: exercise. Many forget how beneficial it is until they begin their new routine and see results almost immediately. Simply find a good pair of shoes and start walking! Try taking 10,000 steps per day; this is the “magic number” for many when it comes to health benefits.
3 Drink More Water
If you are anything like me, drinking water is not your favourite thing in the world. However, it is one of the most important things we can do for our bodies. By increasing our water intake, we are flushing out toxins, aiding in weight loss, and improving our skin complexion. A good goal to shoot for is eight glasses per day, though this varies from person to person. Start by carrying a water bottle with you wherever you go and drink up!
4 Cut Down On The Alcohol
While a small glass of red wine might have some health benefits (such as reducing the risk of heart disease), overindulgence in alcohol is never good for the body. This applies to all types of alcohol, not just red wine. If you are someone who enjoys a glass (or two) of wine every day, try cutting it out completely for 30 days and see how you feel afterwards; if not better, at least try again after another month or two! The same goes for other drinks; if you simply must have that margarita or beer each weekend, limit yourself to only one serving per day (and drink plenty of water in between).
