Sunday’s schedule of NFL games included a battle on the gridiron in Buffalo with the Jacksonville Jaguars visiting the Bills. Before it was all said and done, a brawl broke out between the two teams and a player from each side was ejected for throwing punches.

According to ESPN’s report, the fight occurred during the third quarter of the game at New Era Field. The incident was triggered by Jaguars receiver Dede Westbrook shoving Bills safety Micah Hyde near the Bills’ one-yard line. That led to Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette and Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson trading punches near the end zone.

Fournette and Lawson were ejected for throwing punches at one another. As the two players were exiting through the available tunnel, they had to be separated. Fournette also confronted a fan who made some sort of contact with him. A police officer had to get involved to handle that situation as Fournette continued back to the locker room area.

A play involving Jaguars wide receiver Dontae Moncrief and Bills corner Levi Wallace is what prompted the two teams to start the fighting. The two players were fighting for possession of the ball after a deep passing play near the sideline area. Moncrief and Wallace both continued to hold onto the ball with an official trying to get them apart.

At that point, Westbrook came over and shoved Hyde, leading to more players getting involved. Somehow, Fournette and Lawson ended up trading punches near the wall in the end zone area as part of the incident. They were the only two players ejected.

Fournette was a major factor in the game, coming up with 95 yards and two rushing touchdowns on his 18 carries. Dede Westbrook was also pivotal for the Jaguars. He led all receivers with 44 yards and a touchdown on three receptions, while Moncrief had just the one catch for 29 yards.

Adding insult to injury for the Jacksonville Jaguars after the ejections was the fact that they were unable to score on four straight attempts. That included an overturned touchdown and then a missed field goal. The Buffalo Bills went on to win the game by a final of 24-21, improving their record to 4-7 for the season.
