Disney has a lot of plans in store for their new streaming service. The media giant owns Marvel. Therefore, Disney+ will be the home of many shows that will involve characters from the Marvel Universe. One of the planned shows that is set to debut on Disney+ in 2021 will center around Loki. He is the half-brother of Thor who is also the god of mischief. Loki will be played by Tom Hiddleston. He is the same actor who played Loki in the Thor theatrical movies. An exact release date for the series will most likely not be revealed for quite some time. The scripts for the series are still being written.
The goal of Disney+ is to have shows that feature Marvel characters that are not as well known to the general public. They also want the shows to focus on characters who would never be the star of their own theatrical film. It is interesting that Loki has been chosen to get his own series because he is a villain. However, Disney is clearly thinking outside the box where their original shows are concerned. There will be a couple Marvel shows that will debut on Disney+ later this year.
Disney is putting a lot of work into their streaming service. It is very obvious that they had a plan long before the service launched a few months ago. Star Wars and Marvel will provide Disney+ with a lot of content for many years to come. The hard part will be making sure the shows remain interesting with compelling plots. The writing of each show is very critical. This is what made “The Mandalorian” such a big hit. It was a very entertaining show and fans could not wait until the next episode. They will need a few more shows just like that. However, that is much easier said than done.
There has not been much info revealed about the new Loki series. The rest of the cast has not been announced. Therefore, fans do not know who the other characters in the series will be. Casting will take place as the start of filming gets closer. Disney will most likely try to keep a lot of this info under wraps to prevent any spoilers from being released that could potentially ruin the show. They were very good at avoiding “The Mandalorian” spoilers from leaking before the debut of that show.
