With the latest box office releases, there are few titles that hold the interest of the male audience. Sure, the latest Star Wars film creates the nostalgia needed to foster the inclusion of the male audience, but movie the franchise towards family terms has drawn less from this crowd. Other titles that would fit the contrary have been released months ago, seeing no real progressions into the guy-flick space. The latest developments from this space come from a movie franchise that hasn’t been heard from in nearly a decade: Jackass. This stunt and dare movie franchise had people laughing for hours on end. The production team successfully expanded upon a few different television spin-offs and home video showcases to bring fans of this group three different movie titles. Bad Grandpa was franchised under the same likeness as Jackass, but the production strayed from the usual suspect with these films, adding a storyline and a premise.
New information regarding the film was released a few days ago. It was written that production had been underway for a new film from this successful franchise. The scheduled release date is Spring of 2021. This is still placed in the distant future, but it gives promise and sheds light on the possibility of finding more titles that fit the mold of guy-flick. This will be the first production that this franchise had made following the passing of one of their key members and co-writers, Ryan Dunn. Dunn had passed away in a car accident, which drew much attention to the cast of the film. Most of the original cast members have toured as comedians, spent time producing other films, or have been busy transitioning into a normal life. Johnny Knoxville, the mastermind behind the start-up of the film progressions, made a statement on his social media accounts hinting at the progress he and the team had made to produce a new film to be headlined under the Jackass franchise. While this development still brings out the inner child in us all, it is a development that is geared towards the male counterpart and will fit nicely into a headline of film releases that are set to take launch in 2021. The prospect of the guy-flick is still alive and well, but for now, we wait in anticipation of these releases.
