The actress appeared on “Saturday Night Live” to reprise her role as embattled White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. The professional makeup artists are brilliant at putting the look together by adding prosthetics and eye bags to transform the comedic actress.
Melissa McCarthy loves playing the part of the WH press secretary but reveals the resemblance she bears includes another key person in her life.
“The weird thing is I feel I look so much like my dad,” she told Ellen DeGeneres last March. “I feel like my dad and Sean Spicer had a baby and it’s me.”
On Saturday night, Melissa McCarthy hosted SNL and later appeared in a sketch as Sean Spicer with Alec Baldwin as President Donald Trump. One of the funniest moments occurred when Spicey went searching for Mr. Trump, anxious to speak with him because Spicey felt the President wasn’t being honest with him.
So there goes Spicey out on the busy streets of New York, driving a motorized White House podium, frantically looking for Donald Trump. Meanwhile, the background music playing is Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Only Living Boy In New York.” Spicey was deep in traffic and yelling at bystanders to get out of the way.
When Spicey arrives at Trump Tower, the doorman informs “him” that the President doesn’t come to Trump Tower anymore.
“Then where is he?” the Press Secretary asks.
A golf course in New Jersey is the answer, and that’s where Spicey continues his journey. He finds President Trump alone in the clubhouse and begins whining about the job and that he hears that Sarah Huckabee will be replacing him as the White House Press Secretary.
The President assures Spicey that isn’t the case and then demands that the Press Secretary kiss him.
Spicey says, “I cant’. I have a wife; I took vows.”
By now the audience is rolling with laughter.
Trump says to Spicey, “I’m famous, it’s OK.”
The Press Secretary asks if the indiscretion would be “like ‘The Godfather,’ when you kiss me and no one ever sees me again?”
Trump answered, “Yes.” The pair lock lips, with Spicey then exclaiming, “I had a good run!”
That ends the sketch.
