Game of Thrones – The End Is Near

To everyone’s surprise, HBO has confirmed that Game of Thrones will end after Season 8. It gets worse, Season 7 will have seven episodes and Season 8 just six so far. Let that sink in for a second, that’s 13 episodes left. For a lot of die-hard Game Of Thrones fans, this is devastating news. We are used to having and enjoying 10 episodes per season. To HBO’s defense, they do not want to use filler episodes and ruin the epic TV series. It all comes down to not having enough story left. Season 7 will also be delayed. Instead of premiering in the spring it will be pushed to Summer 2017.

Season 7

The main reason for Season 7 being delayed is the weather believe it or not. At the end of Season 6 winter has finally arrived. That means that sunny weather on filming locations is not going to really work. Filming will start in September 2016 and run until February 2017.  The filming locations have been announced to be Northern Ireland, Iceland, and Spain. As of now, it looks like Season 7 will have content not found on the George R.R Martin upcoming book. This is good in the sense that book fans will not be able to spoil any TV series content.

Major Concerns

As a true Game Of Thrones fan, I cannot help myself but notice major areas of concern on the final two seasons. I would hate to see such an amazing story not deliver and go to waste. As you can see there has been critical changes made. Will HBO be able to pack enough meaningful content in just 6 or even 7 episodes? The filming of the show has also become weather dependent. The weather will dictate if we get those spectacular shots or not. Lastly, there has been rumors that George R.R Martin is trying to push book 6 to be released early 2017. That means that after enjoying a spoiler free Season 6 we might be going back to the old ways. One can only hope for the best.
