Comic book creator and entrepreneur Todd McFarlane has a big announcement coming up. McFarlane hints he will reveal significant news on comicbook.com about the upcoming Spawn reboot. Long-time fans of comic books await such an announcement with enthusiasm. Back in the 1990’s, the debut issue of the Spawn comic book sold more than one million copies. While sales didn’t remain that high forever, the popularity remained strong enough to launch both a feature film and animated series about the hero. Neither were huge hits, but the projects maintain a cult following.

With comic book movies earning big box office, a Spawn reboot makes sense. Unfortunately, the Spawn remake suffered the same fate as The Crow reboot. The project found itself tied up in development for ages. The Crow reboocanceledp being cancelled. The future for Spawn didn’t seem much brighter. Mercifully, things took a positive turn.

Jamie Foxx signed on to play the lead role of the anti-hero in the remake. Once this news broke, fans realized the project was moving out of development. Unfortunately, Spawn never confirmed its “go project” status. Although Foxx attached himself to the movie, the feature remained in development. The chances of the film moving into production, however, increased once a top movie star signed on for the role.

McFarlane posted a picture of himself next to a life-sized Spawn figure. McFarlane’s decision to spark rumors among fans via a photo on Instagram isn’t likely a practical joke. Releasing such a photo without following up with substantive news would irk McFarlane’s fans. Forgiveness would come in short order. McFarlane isn’t doing anything malicious. As a smart entrepreneur, McFarlane knows not to cry wolf to his fans. Look for intriguing news about Spawn in the coming days.
