Singer Demi Lovato is the latest celebrity involved in a hacking incident with nude photos reportedly posted online. Allegedly, Lovato had her Snapchat account hacked which is where the images recently surfaced.
According to a Fox News report, the same hackers that targeted Demi Lovato were previously involved in targeting Chloe Grace Moretz and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. The group allegedly was responsible for leaking nude photos of Moretz and posting tweets with profanity on Jack Dorsey’s account.
The situation with Lovato this past Thursday was similar to that of Moretz, as the hackers posted alleged nude photos of the singer/actress to her own Snapchat account. The hackers also indicated that followers could see even more images if they went to a specific Discord chat. There was also a sex video teased by the hackers for anyone who “signed up” for it.
However, reports indicate that Lovato’s team was able to handle the situation appropriately and quickly. They managed to get the nude images taken down from her Snapchat. In addition, the powers that be at Discord also assisted in stopping things from progressing too quickly. The LA Times reported that Discord shut down server access when they learned of the situation.
“We have a zero-tolerance approach to illegal activity on our platform and take immediate action when we become aware of it. We moved quickly yesterday to disable the link and stop access to the server as soon as we became aware of it,” Discord said in a statement about the incident.
The reports from around the internet involving the Demi Lovato hack and nude photos leaked were unclear as to whether the images actually showed Lovato. It’s entirely possible they were photoshopped pictures made to look like the singer in the nude. As Fox News indicated, reps for the singer didn’t respond to their request for comment at the time of their report.
The singer, age 27, originally became famous for her starring role as Mitchie Torres in Disney Channel’s Camp Rock film back in 2008 as well as the 2010 sequel. Since then, she’s released six studio albums. She’s set to have a recurring role on the TV series “Will & Grace” in 2020.
Last July, Lovato was taken to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for an opioid overdose. Later reports indicated that the singer had overdosed on oxycodone laced with fentanyl but was revived using naloxone. The singer stayed in the hospital for two weeks then went to a rehab facility. Lovato has yet to tell the full story of what happened but indicated she will when she’s “ready to share that with people.”
