For anyone who’s ever wanted to combine the overly sweet taste of marshmallow Peeps with beer, well…someone else thought of that, too, and now we have Peeps-flavored beer.

Grub Street reports on the Dallas-based Collective Brewing Project and their many novelty beer flavors, chief among them being the aforementioned Peeps flavor which will be debuting to the public this Friday evening.

Working in tandem with the local bar Lone Star Taps & Caps, the Collective Brewing Project will be serving up the “Peep This Collab” beer on tap for a limited time. Advertised as a sour ale containing the contents of 30 boxes of Peeps in one batch, it’s flavored with vanilla and butterfly-pea flower extract, resulting in a tart, sweet, and bizarrely purple beverage full of edible glitter (likely to represent the crunchy sugared exterior of the Peeps themselves).

Whether or not you’d ever consider drinking something like this, it’s hard not to admire the motivation behind the project in some way. According to Ryan Deyo, co-founder of the Project, he and his partners are tired of the reputation craft beer has gotten over the years as being an extremely “serious” drink, hoping to bring some levity back to the beverage with their strange flavors and experiments.

The company’s mission statement holds that beer should be fun, with their brewers more than prepared to deliver on that sentiment. Even before this latest venture into the unknowns of alcohol, the company found viral attention for their ramen-flavored “Cup O’Beer” from last year.

The Lone Star Taps & Caps will begin serving the Peep This Collab beer just in time for Easter on March 30 from 6:00-10:00 PM or while supplies last. For more information on this and other beers made by the Collective Brewing Project, you can visit their website.
