Drinking alcohol may help you live longer. In fact, there was a study done that showed that drinking beer can help you live past 90. The study was led by Dr. Claudia Kawas, who works at the University of California-Irvine.

The study started in 2003. It followed 1,600 people who lived to be at least 90-years-old. The researchers analyzed the subjects’ diets and lifestyle habits. Dr. Kawas found that people who started drinking alcohol before 1981 lived longer than those who did not drink alcohol.

People who consumed one or two alcoholic beverages per day were 9 to 15 percent less likely to die prematurely. Those who engaged in moderate exercise were able to decrease their risk of dying by 15 to 35 percent. Michael A. Blazing is a cardiologist who has pointed out some of the flaws in the study. He stated that correlation does not prove causation.

Dr. Blazing also stated that there have been other studies done to show that moderate alcohol consumption is not likely harmful. However, he stated that heavy drinking is not the answer to longevity. He also pointed out that if you consume large amounts of alcohol every day, then you probably will not live long.

Dr. Steven Lamm has pointed out the dangers of consuming alcohol on a regular basis. Alcohol can do serious damage to the organs if it is consumed in large amounts. He also pointed out that there are other factors that affect longevity including diet habits and sleep.

Dr. Lamm tells his male patients that they do not need to have more than two drinks per day. If the patient is over 65, then he recommends that they only have one. Dr. Lamm does not recommend that his patients start drinking if they are not currently drinkers. He also does not recommend that current drinkers increase their alcohol consumption.

Dr. Lamm has admitted that he is a drinker. However, he warns that alcohol is one of the most dangerous drugs that one can consume. That is why he recommends that people be careful.
