Most men today are busy and have to squeeze in workouts whenever they can. That is why many people work out at night. However, experts have advised against exercising at night because it can interfere with sleep. A new study has examined whether working out at night can ruin your sleep.

A team of researchers from Switzerland examined 23 studies that had a total of 275 participants. The subjects exercised for an average of 87 minutes. Cycling and running were some of the most popular forms of exercise. The subjects exercised 1.8 hours before they went to bed. It took them an average of 12 minutes to fall asleep.

The researchers concluded that exercising right before bed may not necessarily ruin a person’s sleep. People who work out at night may take longer to fall asleep. However, late-night workouts are not likely to cause sleep disruptions.

The researchers stated that their findings do not support the belief that working out late at night can hinder sleep. However, high-intensity workouts may impair sleep efficiency. High-intensity workouts can also reduce the amount of time that people sleep.

Scientists will need to do more research in the future in order to answer important questions about exercise and sleep. They will need to do studies to determine the best type of exercise to before going to bed. They will also need to do research to find out when is the best time to exercise. However, they do know that vigorous exercise can give you an energy boost, which will make it harder for you to go to sleep.

If you choose to work out at night, then it is a good idea to have a pre and post-workout meal or snack. You can replenish the nutrients that you lose during your workout by eating after your workout.
