The Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns are arguably the two best teams in the NBA this season. They also happen to be bitter rivals in the Pacific division. Only one team will be able to finish on top to ensure the other one has to come through their town in the playoffs. We got our first look at this epic rivalry when the Warriors traveled to Phoenix on Tuesday night.

It did not take long before things got chippy. Klay Thompson and Devin Booker were jawing at each other from the opening tip-off. Booker took his frustrations out by absolutely dominating the game, which only got under Thompson’s skin even more. The Golden State shooting guard repeatedly fired up shots in hopes of silencing the Phoenix crowd, but he just could not get them to fall.

Tensions eventually boiled over midway through the third quarter with the Suns running away with the game. Thompson was ejected from the game after getting two technicals in a matter of seconds for shoving Booker and Mikal Bridges. After getting ejected, Thompson spent the next few minutes yelling and gesturing to the Suns to let them know he has four championship rings.

His statement may be true, but these actions just made Thompson look like a fool. Nobody cares about your rings when you are getting trounced on the court. It is an even worse look when you only have two points in 19 minutes while the guy you have defended all night is the game’s leading scorer.

Things only got uglier for Golden State after their star shooting guard was ejected for the first time in his NBA career. The Suns completely dominated the second half on their way to a 134-105 victory.

Luckily, we will not have to wait very long to see this rivalry rekindled. The two teams face off again in Phoenix on November 16. It may be an early season matchup on a Wednesday night, but this will certainly be must-see television for every basketball fan.
