People Have High Expectations for the ‘Black Panther’ Movie

Marvel Studios has officially established itself as a powerhouse in the movie industry. They have constantly churned out hit movies that have received high praise from critics and audiences alike. This is in contract to the dismal audience and critic reviews that DC Comics movies produced by Warner Bros. have received. The first of three Marvel Studios movies to hit the big screen in 2018 will be “Black Panther.” It will premiere in the United States on February 16th. The trailers that have been released for the film have generated incredibly high expectations among comic book fans and average viewers alike.

“Black Panther” tells the story of the prince of a fictional African country who is also a part-time superhero. He is like Batman because he does not have any super powers. Black Panther was an interesting choice for Marvel Studios to build a movie around because he is not one of the company’s iconic A-list characters who are all household names. Making a movie about a character who most people who are not comic book fans know nothing about is a big risk on the part of Marvel Studios. However, that risk paid off when Marvel Studios decided to make a “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie featuring characters that are not even close to as significant or famous as the Black Panther. “Guardians of the Galaxy” turned out to be a smash hit that spawned a hugely successful sequel. A third movie in the series is already in the works.

Black Panther has already been seen on the big screen in the most recent Captain America movie. However, he was only a supporting character in that film. It remains to be seen how audiences will respond to him as the central character of his own film. Black Panther was significant because he was the first black superhero when he first appeared in 1965. He is the creation of the legendary comic book writer and artist team of Stan “The Man” Lee and Jack “King” Kirby. His popularity has grown steadily over the years as younger readers have discovered him.

Black Panther has been the star of several of his own comic book series over the years. The large budget that was given to the production of the movie have made the expectations for the film extremely high.
