This is backed up by scientific studies that have been published in “The Journal of the American Heart Association.” Studies have also shown that there are health benefits that can be reaped from following a plant-based diet. Researchers found that plant-based diets can lower the risk of heart disease by reducing bad cholesterol.

One study that was done by the American Heart Association showed that a plant-based diet can lower cholesterol markers by up to 5 percent. John Sievenpiper is a medical doctor who was involved in the study. He stated that 5 percent may not seem like much, but it can make a major difference. Most people get very little plant protein. Therefore, people who change their diet can make major changes in their health.
