Electric vehicles are the current best thing in the automotive sector, thanks to their zero-pollution effect on the environment, low noise pollution, and low running costs. One of the best electric vehicle manufacturers in the US, Lucid Motors, has launched a series of electric cars since its founding in 2007. The Lucid Air series was officially launched in 2016 to compete with existing brands like Tesla and Porsche.

Lucid Air introduced the Dream Edition in 2020, with production and deliveries beginning in October 2021. The 2022 Lucid Air Dream was tested and proved to deliver the most exceptional performance. During a DC fast-charge test, the car performed an average of 135 kilowatts, making it the fastest-charging vehicle on the market. It comes with a lithium-ion battery that charges at the rate of 118 kilowatts per hour.

A car’s charging rate determines how much time is spent at a charging station. During a charging test, ‘Car and Driver’ plugs the electric cars in at a DC fast charger and charges them from 10 to 90 percent on the maximum peak charging rate the vehicles can accept. The Lucid Air Dream accepted the highest peak charging rate among all the cars they have tested, accepting 300 kilowatts.

Lucid Air Dream charging test was conducted at Electrify America, a 350-kilowatt charging station. Surprisingly, its battery charged from 10 to 90 percent in only 46 minutes, with its highest peak charging rate being 297 kilowatts, 47 kilowatts higher than the Tesla Model S Plaid. The average charging speed for the car was135 kilowatts, 10 kilowatts higher than that of the Tesla Model S Plaid, which previously held the record with 125 kilowatts.

The Tesla Model S Plaid had charged up to 90 percent in 38 minutes, with its highest peak rate being 250 kilowatts, which it held for nearly five minutes. However, its battery pack has approximately 19 percent less energy than the Lucid Air Dream’s and charges faster as soon as it goes below its 250-kilowatt peak.
The Lucid Air Dream currently comes in two models: the Dream Edition Range and the Dream Performance, tested by ‘Car and Driver.’ The buying price of the vehicles starts at 170 500 dollars, and the US Environmental Protection Agency has rated them at 520 and 471 miles of range, respectively. Lucid Motors has announced its intentions of introducing cheaper models towards the end of the year, whose prices will start from 77,400 dollars.
