Bears Hand Cowboys Their Third Straight Defeat

It has been a very tough year for the Dallas Cowboys. They started the season with expectations of a possible berth in the Super Bowl. However, the poor performance of the team has made a Super Bowl trip seem like a pipe dream. The Cowboys were outplayed in every way by the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Thursday night. It was the third straight loss for Dallas. They are now 6-7 this season. However, they are remarkably still in first place. They also hold a tie-breaker over a Philadelphia Eagles team that is currently in second place. That means the Cowboys have a better than 60 percent chance of making the playoffs.

There were not many things that the Cowboys did right against the Bears. The biggest problem was their lack of defense in the 31-24 loss. The Bears had one of the worst offenses in the NFL going into the game. However, they were able to move up and down the field at will against the Cowboys. This is not something that Dallas fans were expecting to see. There has been a lot of rumors that Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is on the hot seat. This game will only intensify those rumors. Garrett’s contract will expire at the end of the season.

This is the fifth straight game that Ezekiel Elliott failed to run for at least 100 yards. That is a key example of how bad the Cowboys have been going offensively. QB Dak Prescott has not been making accurate throws since the Cowboys have started losing games. He blames himself and said he needs to improve. However, their offense and defense are not the only problems. Their kicking game has also let Dallas down. They continue to miss field goals at a very high rate. The problem has gotten so bad that the Cowboys have invited several kickers to work out for them.

The Bears played a very solid game. QB Mitch Trubisky has been criticized for his poor play for much of this season. However, there were no complaints about the way that he played on Thursday night. However, it will be very hard for them to make the playoffs.
