After Mark Hicks, the treasurer of the Flint school board got assaulted allegedly, the president of the committee got forced to resign. After she reportedly punched a fellow board member during a meeting hours earlier, the Flint Community Schools Board of Education decided Wednesday to remove her from her position as president.
The district said in a notice that Treasurer Laura MacIntyre accused Danielle Green of assaulting her during a 10 a.m. meeting of the Finance Committee of the Whole at the administrative building. According to Charis Lee, an attorney representing the board, MacIntyre sought medical care, and police became involved. She stated that police officers responded after being summoned.

Assistant Board Secretary Chris was there during the emergency meeting at 6 p.m. Assistant board Secretary Chris Del Morone stated MacIntyre was beaten and bruised after board members approved increased security at meetings and dismissed the president. On Wednesday night, MacIntyre did not respond to a request for comment.
MacIntyre expressed her confusion about why Green had to get detained instantly during the emergency meeting. She said the attack was unprovoked and that she didn’t do much to initiate the assault or protect me in any kind, manner, or form.”
Green could not respond to a call for remark on Wednesday or Thursday. She did not show up for the emergency session in the Accelerated Learning Academy hall when MacIntyre and the rest of the board voted to remove her from leadership. According to Lee, the committee cannot replace Green from the board because she was elected. According to Det Sgt. Tyrone Booth, a spokesman for the Flint Police Department, said the incident was still under investigation on Thursday, and there were no arrests. When asked if he thinks an arrest warrant will get filed with the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office, Booth replied that it is to be determined.
Several members brought up the significance of the attack. It didn’t feel right. According to district authorities, the meeting got convened to explore how to keep Board members and the public safe at open meetings and consider security implementation or other suitable measures.
The board decided to replace Green for the duration of her tenure, which expires in January 2023, with vice president Joyce Ellis-McNeal.
Carol McIntosh, another board member, was appointed as Ellis’s replacement. Some residents who spoke to the board advocated for Green’s removal as president. Claudia Perkins-Milton warned them that Nobody should be brutalized like that, especially when parents and children are in the building. and she insists that it is
absurd.
