It’s one of the greatest pairings both on and off the silver screen, and they’re at it once more.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorcese will make Hollywood magic again with another movie based on a true story of mass murder. The book is called Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI.

Scorcese is revered as a film director, and no actor does crime fiction and true fiction like DiCaprio. This will be the pair’s sixth cinematic collaboration. In addition, the duo has been quietly working on the script of another serial killer adaptation for the big screen. This one pertains to Erik Larson’s book “The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America.”

According to GeekTyrant, Killers of the Flower Moon is a captivating and emotionally devastating story that takes place in Oklahoma in the 1920s and centers around the Osage Indian nation. A bizarre and stunning series of crimes started to occur in which dozens of people were murdered in cold blood on the reservation.

The Osage people had discovered oil beneath their land and quickly became very wealthy, erecting mansions, sending their children overseas for schooling, going places driven by chauffeurs, etc. There was a lot of jealousy in the air, and little by little, members of the tribe were eliminated.

The FBI didn’t react until the number of suspicious deaths reached 25. At that time, J. Edgar Hoover was the young director of the FBI, and he tapped Tom White to get in there and solve the mystery. White was a former Texas Ranger but more importantly, one of the only Native American agents working for the FBI.

It’s a story about race, betrayal and murder and fascinating to learn more about. Scorcese, 74, hopes to get things rolling on Killers of the Flower Moon come September.

In the meantime, he is burning the midnight oil as he films The Irishman.

Martin Scorcese won his first Academy Award for Best Director in the movie The Departed in 2006.
