In January 2018, Quamel Thomas decided that he was tired of being overweight and was going to make a change. He weighed 284 pounds and was tired of the constant aches and pains. When he went to the doctor, he was told that he was at risk for developing serious health conditions. He was also pre-diabetic.
Accróding to Men’s Health, Quamel had been overweight for most of his life. His weight problems started when he was in elementary school. He was active in high school and played on the football team. However, he was forced to stop playing when he began having seizures. He started to gain weight and weighed 300 pounds by the time he was 18-years-old.
In 2017, he started to gain even more weight. That was when he decided that he needed to change. He began to go to the gym six days a week. Quamel admitted that health wasn’t initially the main reason that he wanted to lose weight. He wanted to look more attractive to women.
Quamel managed to lose 30 pounds in one month. He lost over 100 pounds 10 months after he started his new weight loss regimen. He was down to 180 pounds.
Not only has Quamel lost a lot of weight, but he has also been able to significantly reduce his body fat percentage. His overall fitness has level improved. He can bench press 285 pounds. He can also deadlift 475 pounds.
Quamel now weighs 204 pounds because he has put on some muscle weight. He is now passionate about helping other people reach their weight loss goals. He is studying exercise and sports science in college. He plans to work as a personal trainer.
Quamel stated that he is able to love himself again. That is the most rewarding part of his weight loss journey.
