An Exciting Time To Be An Entrepreneur

You hear it every day at schools, work, and even from family members at holidays. The American Dream is dying a painful and slow death, and there is nothing we can do about it. It is impossible to start a small business without failing within the first few years. The big guys are crushing everyone, it’s an unfair one sided fight. Let us stop you right there. No, the American Dream is not dead. It’s as alive as ever. The game just changed a bit, and many have failed to adapt and take advantage of the changes. Did you know the Chinese symbol for Crisis is 危機 is composed of two different symbols? They are Danger & Opportunity. Take a moment to let this sink in. Truth be told, there is always an opportunity in every crisis that arises. Are you the type to soak in self-pity? Or will you rise above the struggles to see what others have failed to see and capitalize? It’s that simple, it’s no coincidence that most wealthy individuals are extreme optimistic whose personality is contagious.

Large companies are laying off individuals at an alarming rate, jobs are being outsourced, the market is flooded with university educated personnel. What a better time than now to take control of your life and create something unique. Everyone always speaks about being their own boss. It’s a lot easier said than done. There is a difference between saying you are an entrepreneur and being an entrepreneur. There will be sleepless nights, frustrating mistakes, and many cynics to demotivate you from accomplishing your goal. But the prize at the end of the road is financial freedom. What is financial freedom exactly? The ability to live life without restrictions or hesitation. The ability to create, invest, and maybe even change the lives of others. The ability to enjoy life to the fullest with your family with no regrets.

Are There Enough Hours In A Day? Never Have Enough Time?

We hear it all the time. It’s the most common phrase uttered by unhappy people everywhere. “There is no time” or “I just don’t have enough time”. It is the number one excuse that prevents people from achieving goals. There is simply no “time” to make required changes to get ahead. No time? There are 24 hours in a day. The majority of people spend eight hours sleeping, ten hours between commuting and work, and about four hours watching television. There is an absurd amount of free time in a day if you plan accordingly. There is no lack of time, just a lack of priorities. You just can’t waste it looking up cat videos on youtube and playing Call of Duty on your Xbox. There is plenty of hours in a day if you carefully calculate and plan accordingly. Stop watching TV, instead listen to Ted Talks or motivational speakers on Youtube. Stop watching every single Heat or Dolphins game at Buffalo Wild Wings, spend that time attending conferences that spread valuable knowledge. Stop playing video games, and use that time to do research on ideas to turn your passion into streams of revenue.

Let us make this perfectly clear and excuse our language. If you live for weekends and holidays, then your shit is broken. Look around, we guarantee that the majority of people you know follow the same trait. People hate Mondays, they absolutely dread it. Mondays are such a huge portion of your life, it doesn’t make sense to hate it. Truth be told, you don’t hate Mondays, you hate your life or job. You need to do an audit of yourself and change the things you do that don’t bring complete satisfaction to your soul. There are no excuses, you have absolute control of your destiny, your happiness, and life. Don’t like your job, quit. Don’t like being single, find someone. Don’t like your girlfriend, break up. Sad because you never took a shot, take it. It’s so simple, you just have to destroy those mental barriers that hold you back. Some things may be out of your control, of course. Don’t lose sleep over this, because it’s foolish. Stop focusing on small stuff that doesn’t matter. Don’t concentrate on the negative. Focus on the things you can control and make it better. You can’t imagine your untapped potential until you dig deep within yourself. There is no idea too small or person too weak. A tree can make a million matches, but don’t forget that a match can eventually burn down a forest with millions of trees.

Not Your Father’s Economy & Market

This is not your father or grandfather’s era. You don’t need an expensive storefront that requires paying rent. People don’t need to physically see the product you want to sell. You don’t need to go to an advertisement firm to market your company. These medieval tactics can still be useful for large businesses with plenty of cash flow, but how about small startups? Small businesses fail when you request ridiculously large loans that cannot be paid back because companies take time to grow. It takes months or years to gather a huge following that can make you profitable. It takes plenty of tinkering and experimenting to get a formula right. You can do everything wrong for ten years and suddenly wake up one day and do everything right. But when the stakes are so high that you get a one and done deal, and failure means you bankrupted your family, entrepreneurs get discouraged and never try again. So what can you do?

You live in the 21st century. We have the power of the internet, the single most fascinating invention of our time. You can create an entire empire from your house. You can start a movement from the palms of your hands with a smartphone. Any Android or iPhone can help you launch and maintain a startup. You can ship goods across the globe to interested buyers from your home. You can create original content and share it with people anywhere on earth. With social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Youtube, and Pinterest, you can literally advertise across such an enormous crowd. We are capable of doing things in small business on a scale never before seen. We are the masters of our destinies, we just have to work a little harder. We need to be more original. Be creative, find that niche that others haven’t. Or not, pick something that has already been done and do it better. Think Mark Zuckerberg cared that MySpace did the same thing as his Facebook? Be confident, don’t doubt yourself, everyone around you is a critic and a cynic. Everyone will do that job for you and tear you down. Be your number one fan. Have the mindset that you can conquer anything you put your mind to. You’ll be surprised how successful you will become once you apply this sort of thinking. It affects every aspect of your life because success is contagious. It taps into everything you do in life. Fitness, love, finance, career, friendships, all the way down to just being better at board games such as Clue.

Having A Day Job Or Being Older Than 25 Isn’t Game Over

A lot of experts or self-made millionaires recommend you find riches the old-fashioned way. You should quit your job so you can focus on starting a company full time. You need to sell everything in your possession, go into debt, take out a loan. Then go knee deep into your new company, live it, breathe it. This is not necessary for today’s day in age. In fact, we recommend the opposite. Find a 9 to 5 job that pays you the highest amount possible while doing the least amount of work. That’s right, save up that energy because your real job is from 5 pm to 2 am. The entrepreneur game is a long haul, you need to be stable during this. If you quit your job and have zero income, it’s very likely you will quit your business idea before revenue kicks in. This is why we recommend you handle your side business at night and lose sleep over it while your day job keeps you and your family afloat. This also means it is never too late to become an entrepreneur, it’s not just for kids in their early 20’s with no bills and nothing to lose. You can be 30, 40, even 50 when you decide to make it on your own. The market does not care about your age. If your victories are great, the market will accept them. The startup game is the least discriminatory rulebook we have, it is color blind, doesn’t mind gender or your past mistakes. It only cares about the potential to generate money. Do yourself a favor, and take a good long hard look at a mirror. Ask yourself if you are truly happy. Then ask yourself if you have what it takes to change your life. Be honest with yourself, acknowledge your weaknesses, and turn them into strengths. Entrepreneurship is not for everyone, but don’t miss out on taking a swing now cause you’ll regret it later in life. These are indeed exciting times to tackle the American dream head on.

Couldn’t have said it better. People only know how to complain about their situations but they don’t do anything about it.
