Released On A Highly Competitive Window
Titanfall 2 is one of the most underrated first-person shooters out in the market for one simple reason. Despite all the major improvements since the previous release, Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts made a critical mistake. Titanfall 2 was released on October 28th, 2016 just a week after Battlefield 1 and a week before Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. As you know EA also publishes Battlefield but they expressed no concern of Titanfall 2 players overlapping. Unfortunately, they were wrong, Titanfall 2 took a huge hit in predicted sales and fan base. It’s hard for gamers to justify buying a second let alone a third first person shooter in such a short window. Releasing Titanfall 2 in between the top FPS games in the market is asking for the game to be ignored.
New Full Campaign Mode
The new game brings us a campaign mode, something that was highly criticized on the previous release for lacking. The campaign mode has been rated top notch across the board even though it is on the short side. Most players have been able to finish the campaign in just 5 hours. This could be a positive or a negative thing depending on your interest to buy the game. If your main focus is to play multiplayer then you’ll find the campaign extremely satisfying. The campaign revolves around rifleman Jack Cooper an aspiring pilot who finds himself in the right place at the wrong time. After an attack held by the Apex predators mortally wounding Jack’s mentor Captain Lastimosa, Jack is given control of Vanguard class Titan BT-7274. It is up to Jack and BT to rely on each other to survive and stop the IMC, a corporate military operation. Here is the official Titanfall 2 single player trailer:
As you can see the gameplay can be divided into two parts. The ground level fast-paced first-person shooter and the mech piloting titan experience. As the game progresses the bond between Jack and BT gets stronger. The levels are designed to feel like a parkour-style action often testing your movement skills as a player. Titanfall 2 brings us highly responsive controls, amazing animations and an arsenal of weapons. The full out war and tight gunplay will keep you at the edge of your seat at all times. It is ultimately a combination of the hard to navigate levels, challenging gun battles and bonding between Jack and BT that makes such a remarkable campaign.
Multiplayer Mode
If you are new to the Titanfall series it is recommended that you play the campaign to get a handle on the diverse pilot and titan combo. Having said that it will take some time to get used to the many multiplayer modes, pilot and titan customizations. The multiplayer mode includes a total of six titans (Ion, Scorch, Ronin, Northstar, Legion, and Tone). You will have three classes to choose from including Tactical, Pulse-Blade, and Grapple. You need to also select what kind of grenade and kit you want to use. The game modes include:
Amped Hardpoint – Capture and hold a hardpoint to earn points.
Attrition – AI soldiers flood the map. Three teams, two players, one AI.
Bounty Hunt – Kill enemies to earn points.
Capture the Flag – Steal the enemy flag and return it to your base while stopping the enemy team from taking your flag!
Coliseum – Requires entry tickets, and pits Pilot against Pilot
Free for All – Every man for himself.
Ground War – A mixed game mode by default.
Last Titan Standing – Last Titan on the battlefield wins.
Mixtape – Varying player counts and maps on these modes:
Bounty Hunt
Last Titan Standing
Pilots vs. Pilots
Attrition
Amped Hardpoint
Capture the Flag
Pilots vs. Pilots – Kill enemy pilots. Titanfalls not allowed.
Private Match – A private match between friends.
Skirmish – Small scale battles.
Variety Pack – A variety of mixed modes.
The best news about the multiplayer mode is that there is no season pass and all future maps and modes will be free. This is a huge relief for many gamers who are used to the DLC oppression.
Verdict
Titanfall 2 is a great FPS that has been overlooked by many gamers due to the terrible release window. This time around, the game brings us a superb campaign packed with action and challenging levels that will truly test your movement skills. The multiplayer mode can be a learning curve offering a wide variety of pilot/titan customizations and game modes. Overall a highly rated game across the board that is worth looking into.

This game would have had so much success had the release time been moved to early 2017…..
GOod post, could care less about the campaign but the multiplayer looks like the tits.
DOnt have a single friend with this game. Everyone is on BF1 or Overwatch.
Got a couple of friends who play and they swear it beats COD and BF1.
One of the top 20 games I’ve played
The only downfall of this game is that like Halo it takes way too many shots to kill someone
Honestly this release completely went over my head
I would play this game if only I had the time… it good phenomenal
True. That’s everybody’s downfall.
Im more of a Battlefield type of player and not so much Mech warriors
Me too. Battlefield is amazing compared to TitanFall. But TitanFall fills the gaps Battlefield cant.
I was actually considering buying it now that it dropped to $39.99
Take advantage bro.
I honestly paid no attention since I was highly disappointed with the first part. You are correct the timing was extremely bad.
