Future has sold the publishing rights to all of his music that was recorded between 2004 and 2020 for what is reported to be at least $10,000,000. Billboard estimates that the catalog sold for $65-$75 million. The dollar amount is undisclosed, but it is said to be in the “high 8-digit arena”.
The new owner of Future’s biggest hits is Influence Media Partners, an NYC based music and rights firm founded in 2019 by Lylette Pizarro (formerly with RPM GRP). The acquisition was announced by their CEO and founding partner, Rene McLean on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. In McLean’s statement he called Future “a cultural icon”.
According to their website, Influence Media Partners is “a music and entertainment platform that is focused on investing in the recording and publishing rights of commercially proven songs that resonate throughout pop culture.” Future is not the only superstar to strike a deal with Influence Media. Other recent deals were made with musical legends, Chuck D, Smokey Robinson and Tina Turner.
The catalog of music that was sold includes several collaborations that Future performed with artists such as Drake, Rhianna, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd and Justin Bieber. In 2020, Future unseated Elvis for having the most #1 hits. Over his career he has released 8 albums that have reached the #1 spot on the Billboard’s Hot 200 and has had dozens of hit singles. All are now the property of Influence Media.
Future shared his thoughts about handing over his life’s work to Influence Media, commenting that he is proud to be partnering with McLean because this catalog of music is “the most precious artwork of his career”. He recognized that this deal solidifies the timeless value of his music and feels confident that his 612 songs are in good hands and will be managed responsibly going forward.
