This Friday kicks off the World Series with the Houston Astros going against the Philidelphia Phillies. There is something about the American League that sparked a fire under the Houston Astros since falling short when they were in the National League.
Astros Are the Favored Team
Ever since they switched to the American League in 2013, they have not only made it to World Series but also won their first World Series Title in 2017. They beat the all-famous New York Yankees to pave their way to the top and won 106 games in the season. They made the World Series but fell short in 2019 and 2021. Now, the professionals have the Houston Astros going into the World Series as their favorite team and picking them to win their second World Series Title.
The Phillies Are the Underdogs
The Phillies won their last World Series game in 2009 and are coming into the world championship game with being labeled as “the underdogs.” The Astros have the better record and have won more playoff games, whereas the Phillies have had a dry run in a playoff drought.
The underdogs could pull off a shocking upset, but the stats and predictions say otherwise. They finished the Wild Card spot by winning 87 games. The Phillis won their ticket by beating the San Diego Padres within five games. Bryce Harper was labeled the post seasons’ best player, and Rhys Hoskins put up five home runs and 11 RBI.
The Ultimate Battle
Sportscasters say the ultimate battle in the World Series will come down to the Houston Astros pitchers and the Philidelphia Phillies lineup. This year, it doesn’t matter who the fans follow. What matters is that America’s favorite sport has the best teams playing, which both earned their way into the spotlight.
It will be the ultimate battle and an excellent game for baseball fans when the last pitch is thrown. The world is asking, “Will the underdogs pull off a huge upset?” Or, “Will the Astros win their second World Series Title without controversy?” The world will find out in the coming weeks.
