Marijuana is a drug that can be smoked or ingested to produce mild euphoria. It is most commonly used as a recreational drug, but some people use it for medical purposes.

As its name suggests, marijuana grows as a weed. It can grow almost anywhere, given the right conditions. The stages involved in weed production usually occur outdoors; it cannot be grown indoors because of high electricity use and the space required to cultivate it. Below is a detailed description of the three stages involved in weed production.

  1. Cultivation

Cultivation is the process of growing marijuana plants. It may take months to finish this stage, although if the seeds are started indoors earlier, they can last for around four to five months. First, growers will germinate the seeds in water before transplanting them into containers filled with soil or hydroponic materials. The primary purpose of this stage is to let the plant grow its roots and eventually form a stem. It will produce two leaves at first, which are known as cotyledons, but it can produce more as it continues growing.

  1. Growing

The second stage of growing weed is generally the longest and most laborious part of marijuana production. The goal of this stage is to force the plant to flower so that it will grow one or more buds. This part requires extensive knowledge about manipulating lighting, water, and temperature conditions and understanding how plant hormones work. Different strains have different flowering times, so growers need to determine how long they will take before harvesting them. During this stage, growers also need to decide whether or not they want the plants to produce male flowers. This choice depends on how the weed will be used; if the marijuana is for recreational purposes, then some growers choose to harvest females only, as males turn THC into CBN, which has an opposite effect on the brain.

  1. Harvesting and Curing

Harvesting and curing is the last stage of weed production. Farmers will harvest plants when they are mature, which means that buds have reached their full size. The plants will be cut near the base before being hung upside down to dry out. A lot of marijuana farmers use machines called “trimmers” for this process; instead of cutting it with scissors or a knife, these machines use spinning blades that cut through the plants without damaging them. They then rub buds against mesh screens to remove all stems and leaves before putting them in jars for curing purposes. Curing is basically to let the weed dry out to improve its taste. If marijuana dries too quickly, it will cause it to become brittle, so extra care must be taken during this process.
