One Of The Most Mysterious Creepypasta

It is believed that there have been sightings of the “Rake” dating back to England circa 1691. In a journal dating back to that time, he was described as a “deformed naked man, or a large hairless dog, with an unusual body posture.” This adds up with some of the witness accounts that have occurred since 2003. Mentioned below is some historical documentation from Rake victims.

A Mariner’s Log: 1691

“He came to me in my sleep. From the foot of my bed I felt a sensation. He took everything. We must return to England. We shall not return here again at the request of the Rake.”

A Journal Entry (translated from Spanish): 1880

“I have experience the greatest terror. I have experienced the greatest terror. I have experienced the greatest terror. I see his eyes when I close mine. They are hollow. Black. They saw me and pierced me. His wet hand. I will not sleep. His voice (unintelligible text).”

A Suicide Note: 1964

“As I prepare to take my life, I feel it necessary to assuage any guilt or pain I have introduced through this act. It is not the fault of anyone other than him. For once I awoke and felt his presence. And once I awoke and saw his form. Once again I awoke and heard his voice, and looked into his eyes. I cannot sleep without fear of what I might next awake to experience. I cannot ever wake. Goodbye.”

Reappearance in Northeast United States

On the night of July 4th, 2003, a small family had an encounter with the Rake. At around 4 am, a woman named Sue and her husband awoke to the most frightening of sights. Initially, they believed there was a stray animal at the foot of their bed. Once adjusted her eyes, Sue noticed that this was unlike anything she had ever seen before. Upon waking her husband, the creature fled from the room, down the hallway. The horrifying figure had ran into their daughter’s bedroom. After chasing it down and telling on the lights, The Rake was standing over their daughter Clara. After an intense, but silent staredown, the Rake ran off into the darkness of the night. Their daughter had been attacked, and covered in blood said the words “He’s The Rake”.

The father rushed his daughter to the nearest hospital. As faith would have it, he would lose control of his car as he raced to the hospital. They crashed into a lake, with Sue being the only survivor who escaped. Sue would blame the Rake for these tragic events. Obsessed with discovering what was responsible for the death of her family, she would begin to do research. She was astonished that so many others have had this mysterious figure break into their homes. She decided it would be best to start recording sound at night while she slept. After a few weeks with no significant findings, she would be creeped out one morning. The Rake had paid her a visit while she slept, and the recorder picked up it’s voice. She remembered the voice from the first night they encountered each other. She has not been paid a visit since then, and lives in extreme terror that she will once more awake to see the Rake sitting at the foot of her bed staring at her. To this day, Sue urges everyone to lock their windows and doors to avoid the horrors that her family endured.

Other Odd Sightings Occur

For a short while it appeared that Rake stories were making it to the news. Then suddenly there was a media blackout. All the new journalists simply stopped reporting about these sightings and they were never heard from again. However, the stories and reportings of the Rake continued on the internet. A spotting is believed to have occurred in Louisiana after a man left his camera in a dense forest recording overnight. The next morning, the camera was found destroyed, but the memory card was intact. After reviewing the footage, he found an odd creature approach the camera. This creature closely resembled what others had referred to as the Rake.

In April of 2011, something unusual happened in Liverpool, England on three different occasions. While conducting a routine telescopic camera search of the sewage of Liverpool, the North West Water company spotting something weird lurking in the sewers. In two of the footages, it appears someone is passing by quickly. But in one of the videos, something seeming strikingly similar to the Rake stares down the camera and then suddenly disappears. Nobody knows if this is the same Rake from the United States, or if this is multiple different animals or individuals that share the characteristics of the Rake.
