Eminem releases ‘Killshot’ dis track to fire back at MGK’s ‘Rap Devil’

It’s been a busy past few weeks for Marshall Mathers aka “Slim Shady” aka Eminem. A few Fridays ago, Eminem dropped the surprise album “Kamikaze” on the world which was met with mostly favorable reviews. Eminem critiques the state of mumble rap music today but also names some names. At least one song included several shots fired towards hip-hop star Machine Gun Kelly who previously mentioned Eminem’s daughter, Hailie Jade. That prompted MGK to retaliate with a dis song called “Rap Devil” which fans thought may have ended Eminem’s reign. However, Eminem didn’t stay silent for too long.

This past Friday (Sept. 15) Slim Shady answered his fans, critics, and especially MGK. The chart-topping artist fired back with “Killshot,” a clever (and highly personal) new dis track that has made its way onto Eminem’s YouTube channel. It had the song title and artist trending on Twitter based on a track that looks to destroy MGK. In the minds of many fans, Eminem succeeded in doing that.

On Eminem’s song “Not Alike” from “Kamikaze” he directs several lines towards MGK including actually dropping the name “Kelly” (Machine Gun Kelly). While it initially seemed that Eminem went at MGK on the track because of 2012 comments about Em’s daughter Hailie, the rapper said that wasn’t the case. Per a Complex report, Shady told Hot 97’s Sway during a sit-down interview that MGK’s accusation that Eminem tried to mess with his career is what made him go after him.

With the brand new dis track “Killshot,” Em refers to MGK wearing a man bun and not having album sales that even compare to his. However, one of the more scathing lines includes a reference towards MGK’s ex-girlfriend Halsey being involved sexually with rapper G-Eazy (Gerald). There’s also a joking reference that alleged Diddy “put the hit out that got Pac killed.” Later, Eminem admits he’s only kidding, telling Diddy, “You know I love you.

During the Sway interview, Eminem indicated “I want to destroy him,” but also that he didn’t want to make his foe “any bigger” through the back-and-forth. As of this report, Eminem’s “Killshot” YouTube video has over 34 million views and nearly two million Likes. For comparison, MGK’s “Rap Devil” video on the WorldStarHipHop channel is up over 78 million views, but it’s been live for 12 days. With how viral this feud has become, Eminem may be right when he tells MGK, “It’s your moment, enjoy it.”
