One of the best rivalries in the NFL is between the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings. Both of those teams played each other at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Monday Night Football. There was a lot at stake for both teams. A win for the Packers would mean they would clinch the NFC North division. The Vikings would not be able to win the division with a victory. However, their hopes of winning the division next week would still be alive. The Packers would eventually win the game by a score of 23-10. They are the NFC North champions for 2019.
The Vikings have already secured a spot in the playoffs. It is just of matter of who and where they are going to play. Minnesota was terrible offensively against the Packers. The poor play of QB Kirk Cousins has to be a concern for the team heading into the playoffs. He has not been good the past couple of weeks. He is choosing a very bad time of the year to start throwing inaccurate passes. Aaron Rodgers was also not at his best for the Packers. However, he did enough to help secure the victory for his team.
There is a very good chance that the Packers will be playing at home in the first round of the playoffs. They also might have a bye in the first round. All of that will be determined based on what happens next week. The most important thing is that the Packers have locked up the division title. They will not let it go down to the final week of the season. All of the pressure is gone. Now all the Packers need to focus on is who they are going to play in their first game of the playoffs.
The Vikings and the Packers will enter the playoffs with a few very serious question marks. They have injuries to a few of their best players. Will these guys be healthy and ready to play with the postseason finally rolls around? That is anybody’s guess at this point. The Packers are generally thought to be the more talented team between the two. However, the Vikings are much more explosive when they have a healthy Dalvin Cook. He is the guy who makes their offense go. It is crucial that he come back at 100 percent for their first playoff game.
